The Joseph One Health Research Laboratory (JOHRL) was founded in 2019 by Drs. Loubiela Joseph, Molecular Scientist, expert in Virology, in Curacao. JOHRL knows that the health of our population is related to the health of our environment. In most cases, infections from microbes of animals can also be spread to humans because we both share the same eco-system in which we live. In addition, what we eat, and drink also has a major role in the public health. In an effort to better understand diseases transmitted by food, water and zoonoses, the JOHRL will focus on different sectors, especially food safety, the fight against zoonoses (diseases that can spread between animals and humans, such as influenza, rabies, zika, dengue) and the fight against antibiotic resistance in our food, water and seas. We want to do this by implementing a One Health prevention program in Curaçao.
